All of the recipes on Gluten Free / Dairy Free NJ are already tomato free due to my inability to digest tomato (I suspect it is the acid). I have found a number of people with nightshade issues interested in my tomato free recipes. (I've read that some people follow a nightshade free diet to help with arthritis pain or as an anti-inflammatory diet as well.) Since I am not an expert on nightshade issues please take care before trying any of these recipes to make sure I haven’t made a mistake somewhere. The list below includes the suggested changes you should make to make these nightshade free but again this depends on your specific diet.

When people state they have an issue with nightshades they are most often referring to the genus Solanum whose major foods includes: tomatoes, potatoes, and eggplant. Often they must also avoid the Capsicum genus as well (chili peppers, paprika, bell peppers). (Other genera [plural of genus] include plants such as goji berry, tobacco, belladonna, mandrake, gooseberry, and tomatillo).
Sweet potatoes are not part of the nightshade family but rather are from a sister family: convolvulaceae. In the US some people refer to sweet potatoes as yams. This is incorrect. A yam is a different tuber vegetable from Africa and is even further removed from potatoes than sweet potatoes. If you cannot tolerate sweet potatoes, my tomato free sauce recipe can use pumpkin instead.
